Not only Stradivari. Cremona has been the forge of illustrious violin makers, such as Guarneri del Gesù, Amati and Bergonzi, creators of instruments that are kept in the vaults of banks all over the world. It is difficult, if not almost impossible, to put together a group that plays instruments from the same artisan workshop. On this CD, the prestigious Quartetto della Scala interprets masterpieces by Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven on instruments made by the Bergonzi luthiers, who were active in Cremona in the 18th century.
