Lovingly swimming against the stream, it goes without saying that this interpretation runs counter to the prevailing trend, which is to play Baroque music with instruments and practices from the same era. When it comes to stringed instruments, in particular, the search even becomes fetishistic because it implies the use of original materials, even with regard to bows, strings, mounts and keyboards. In this case, the problem is not one of taking sides, of espousing philology or freedom of expression, of necessarily taking a position. It is simply a matter of understanding the philology behind a project whose results are convincingly marvellous, especially on a musical level, which is then what counts, finding the right colours, the right interpretative path by simply being guided by the poetry of the sonnets that accompany Vivaldi's Seasons; even the most fundamentalist of philologists forgets about gut strings and baroque bows, letting himself be lulled only by the Music. She, in combination with the poem, leads the listener into a dreamlike dimension by offering the possibility of interpreting this Vivaldi opera in a modern key, always respecting the musical text.
